About Sheen Common
East Sheen Common, also known as Sheen Common, is an area of public open space in East Sheen in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. It is adjacent to Richmond Park and separated from it by a brick wall which forms the park's boundary. A gate, Bog Gate, provides pedestrian access between the park and the Common. Since 1908, the Common has been owned by The National Trust. It is currently leased to Richmond upon Thames Borough Council.
The Common covers 75 acres (30ha), consisting of woodland, a cricket field, tennis courts and a bowling green, and is a surviving part of the much greater area of common land that existed in the local area before Richmond Park was created.
NOTICE:
We are pleased to inform you that as of Saturday 22 June, the inclusive toilet in the pavilion will be opened for public use on weekends. We are starting with weekends as this is the busiest time for the site but this will be kept under review. Permanent signage has been ordered but we will arrange for posters to be installed in the meantime.
The woodland is managed to encourage wildlife on the site - foxes and numerous bird species inhabit this area and there is a small seasonal pond
